Volunteer Opportunity: Mouse and small mammal Identification at Marbury Road Edible Garden

REF: mouse-id

Are you passionate about nature and wildlife conservation? We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help identify mice species in the Marbury Road Edible Garden.

About the Project:
The population of dormice, one of the UK’s most charming small mammals, has been declining due to habitat loss, climate change, and other environmental pressures. By participating in this project, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and understanding the local mouse population, contributing to conservation efforts for these often-overlooked creatures. We have mice on our land that we thought were field mice but later discovered they were actually Voles and now we know we need help.

Role

Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Conduct mouse identification surveys in the Marbury Road Edible Garden.
- Report your findings quarterly, allowing us to track population trends and health.
- Work at your own pace! The surveying can be done during times that best fit your schedule.

“Qualifications”:
- A keen interest in wildlife and ecology.
- Basic knowledge of local rodent species, their tracks and signs that they have visited.
- Ability to submit survey reports quarterly. (We can help with this, it’s just a list)

Join us in our efforts to protect and understand the diverse wildlife in our community. Together, we can make a difference!
