Dad Matters volunteer

REF: 668524a811b6f

Dad Matters is a Home-Start project, reaching, engaging and supporting dads in the perinatal period with attachment and bonding, mental health, supporting partners and accessing services. We also support professionals to improve their practice around reaching and supporting dads in the perinatal period. If you are a dad who would like to help other dads, we'd love to hear from you! As a volunteer you will be meeting dads at various venues, speaking to them and distributing resources, as well as facilitating our face to face groups for dads in various situations. You will be monitoring, moderating, developing and contributing to our online support groups and also facilitating dad and baby events in various venues. Any experiences you have had of any of the challenges dads face, such as miscarriage or perinatal loss, perinatal mental health issues, supporting a partner through perinatal mental health issues, wellbeing, etc, are invaluable to us and the dads you will be talking to. You may not realize how important you are to fellow dads, but you are. The rewards from becoming a volunteer are fantastic. Not just for you personally, but for those you are helping.

Home-Start HOST

Organisation description:

Home-Start HOST is a local charity of trained volunteers and dedicated, experienced staff. We help families with young children flourish during the years of early childhood, supporting parents across Stockport (and Tameside, Oldham and Glossop). Children who are raised in a stable and loving family environment are more likely to have a positive and healthy future. We are here to support parents, so they can give their children the best start in life. Our support is compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental. We match families who may be pregnant or have child(ren) under the age of five with a volunteer who will visit the family home for up to two hours each week. This could be for a chat; to support the family to go to a local group; to listen non-judegmentally. It may be the family are feeling isolated; have twins and feel overwhelmed; lack the confidence to go out as a family; have mild to moderate mental health needs and just need that extra support.
